Classes

fundamentals class Fundamentals Class
Our Fundamentals class is a heated, flowing style class appropriate for students who are altogether new to the practice of yoga, as well as for more experienced students who feel they need some educational “reinforcement” of the fundamental building blocks of the practice. These classes emphasize all of the basic skills necessary to support a student in creating a safe, challenging, enjoyable and “successful” classroom experience. Our main intention for students who attend Fundamentals classes is for them to develop the basic tools and understanding that will enable them to participate in All-Levels classes with confidence and a sense of preparedness.
all levels class All-Levels Class
Our All-Levels class is a “staple” of our classroom schedule. It’s a heated, flowing style class appropriate for all students. These classes are intended to be highly “experiential” for the student, combining the warm flow of vinyasa with just enough guidance for the breath and alignment to enhance the experience. These classes are great for “untying your knots” – physically, mentally and emotionally – and reconnecting to your deeper sense of calm and centeredness.

NOTE: It’s recommended that more beginner level students attending All Levels classes also include in their “training strategy” Fundamentals classes, a Beginners Workshop and private lessons in order to better educate themselves on the basic skills of the practice to make their All Levels class experience more “successful.”
sadhana class Sadhana Class
Our "sadhana" is both our evolving vision for ourselves and the work we do to make it real. The goal of this class is to introduce the powerful synergy of asana, pranayama (breath work) and meditation. This 2-hour class will be an All-Levels asana class followed by formal instruction and practice in pranayama and meditation.
Friday Night Flow Friday Night Flow
This class combines invigorating vinyasa sequences with flowing elements of dance that lead into long-held yin postures to create an experience that is both detoxifying and restorative. The vinyasa and core work is set to a fun playlist of hip-hop, pop and dance music to open, warm and loosen the body. The flow is followed by deep stretching and a relaxing savasana to release the tension of a busy week and energize for the weekend. Come move, have fun and experience your practice in a whole new way!
  Daily Practice
The idea of this class is to offer a class that is LESS THAN ONE HOUR start to finish (for those days when you don't have enough time to take a 90+ minute class) but still let's you "get your yoga practice in" for the day. This class is dynamic enough to "get the cobwebs out" and to "clean the slate" physically, mentally and energetically AND YET it is a gentle enough practice that all skill levels can do this class every day - thus the name "Daily Practice." The hope is that this type of class will not only allow students to get a practice in on the days when they are pressed for time, but that it will also instill in students the confidence that they can do this kind of practice by themselves - it should act as a "home practice" catalyst. (This class is only $10 for a walk in and $8 with a valid student ID.)
  Sunday Night Restorative
The art of "doing" nothing. Hit the reset button for your nervous system, mind and body in this deeply relaxing hour long practice that will sooth you while deepening your internal awareness. Drawing from mindfulness meditation, the depth and intensity of this practice lies in the staying in the now while being in stillness for longer periods of time. At times during the class there are more active postures with a touch of vinyasa, but at least half of the class is about resting the body in positions to find deep release along various lines (or myofascial trains). The style is profound and deep, where you get to really take time and "listen in" to your body's wisdom and take time to develop a more integrated experience of mind and body. It is highly recommended to have at least one restorative practice a week, be it at home or guided in a class like this, in order to integrate and balance from your other more rigorous classes and activities. This is an extremely good practice for anyone wishing to deepen their practice, for newcomers and for those working with injuries. (This class is only $10 for a walk in and $8 with a valid student ID.)
  Intermediate
The idea of an “intermediate” class is not “hotter, faster, harder” but rather a class that encourages the student to be more mindful, more technically precise and introduces them to more advanced postures in a way that builds upon the alignment principles and skills that they have learned in Fundamentals Classes in order to create a (quote/unquote) more “advanced” practice through the concept of “doing less, and accomplishing more” rather than just working harder. A more advanced practice is really about learning how to not just “work harder” but about how to be more efficient with one’s effort, and how to balance the skills of effort and surrender, will vs. willingness and ultimately embracing the “Law of Economies of Least Effort” where you realize how to accomplish more, by doing less. If you watch anyone do something really well, you usually find yourself saying, “Wow…they make it look so easy.” This is intention of an Intermediate class. It’s about working smarter, rather than working harder.
